she said, "it was good, but i feel like you write about the same thing all the time." we talked about how i don't put everything i write in a public forum, and how we should put our academic papers online to prve that we have other things going on, to display the breadth of my writing. it is true, though. i do write about the same thingsthe same few topics are all i think about outside of the realm of academia. but i keep having the same conversationswho am i, what does that mean for me, and how does that translate into interactions with othersabout identity.

from a tocquefillian perspective, mayb i will move beyond conversations about these types of gender-specific identity politics as i have moved beyond sexuality laden identity politics permeating all my thoughts, writings and conversations. a patterned/historical approach.

or maybe it is a weberian approach. a move to substantive from formal rationality. that, finally, i am at the point of substantive rationality with respect too gender. i can judge and dscuss with discourse and analyze critically. as with my fixation with sexuality, the issue will grow to be commonplace in my life and i will no longer need substantive rationality. an extention of weber, perhaps substantive rationality, after reaching a level of understanding and (partial) exhaustion, is no long (wholly) necessary and so there is a move back to formal rationality. and, in times of threat and re-evaluation, substantive rationality can come back into play.
